The Work Behind the Work

David F. Gallegos is an advocate, strategist, and healthcare professional whose career has been defined by one question: How do we build systems that meet real needs?

Raised in New Mexico, David developed an early understanding of the gaps between policy intent and reality. That tension became the drive behind healthcare reform, education equity, and cross-sector innovation work that spans community clinics, school districts, and policy forums. His professional education includes a 1997 Bachelor's in Athletic Training and a 2003 Master's in Curriculum and Instruction.  He has practiced in the secondary school, professional sports, outpatient rehabilitation clinic, private practice, industrial, digital health, educational and healthcare administrative settings. He is currently the Deputy CEO for Southwest Sport and Spine Center, Inc., a population health management company with services in Southern New Mexico and far West Texas.

He has advised government agencies, nonprofit coalitions, and private sector partners on how to align institutional resources with community values. His approach is rigorous, grounded in data, driven by passion, and always oriented toward the people most affected by the decisions.

David believes that the most powerful form of advocacy is presence.  Showing up consistently, building relationships, creating opportunities and improving systems is the sweet spot.

Core Beliefs

What I Stand For

01

Just Change

Systems that optimize for speed at the expense of fairness are not progress. Real impact means ensuring that the people most left behind are the first ones served.

02

Continuous Learning

Strong values don't require closed minds. The best advocacy listens as much as it speaks and changes course when the evidence demands it.

03

Interprofessional Practice and Education

Healthcare, education, and innovation are not separate silos. The most durable solutions emerge at their intersections, where disciplines and communities meet.

04

Commitment to Excellence

Systemic change doesn't happen in short bursts. It requires patience, persistence, and the willingness to invest in short term strategy built on long-term opportunities.
